All our young people have completed first aid training and are proudly sporting their first aid badges!
Our allotment at RRUFC has been cleared, beds prepared and we have onions and garlic in for an early crop. A variety of food is being grown from seed which are in and hopefully germinating. Our groups will plant out in the spring.
The work of our groups last year was recognised by the RHS and Britain in Bloom with a Level 4 ‘Thriving ‘ award for our hanging garden balcony project which brought some colour to our building for our groups, staff, the passers by and neighbours in Castleton – Great work!
Last years groups and school staff have all been given one of the cookbooks they produced. You can have a look at this on our website in the ‘what we do’ pages here.
Photography wise, we’ve seen some stunning outcomes from the various projects which started with portraits and finished with drawing with light. Our groups are certainly starting to find their way around the cameras and equipment.
Our pianists have been playing in Cornwall over half term. Some of the work through the lessons will be used to support the GCSE curriculum and examination requirements. In addition, they are being supported with work towards piano examinations, one at level 5.
All groups have been introduced to our VR and simulator and are developing awareness of how this technology can be used and give insights into the skills needed for future careers… the flight simulator has generated a lot of discussion around the travel industry from technicians to pilots and cabin crew. There will be opportunity to look at HGV’s and driving over coming weeks.
On our journey through the first half term we’ve celebrated Halloween with some excellent pumpkin carving, making and decorating chocolate apples , decorating the Farewell and creating some art work. Many of our groups have enjoyed the arts and crafts which we will pick up again as we prepare for the festive season.
See you soon!
