Mad Science

A recent EBFT initiative is "Mad Science" which aims to boost science engagement, and with collaboration with the Watergrove Trust System Science team they have brought science to more students.

The first of two projects was for learners to build and launch a bottle rocket. There were two competitions; which rocket stayed in the air the longest and which went the highest (as measured with a clinometer).

The second project aimed to answer one of the wonders of the world – which biscuit is best for dunking?

Meticulous plans and methods alongside surreptitious sampling led to a clear winner in the biscuit world. The “rich tea” displayed pliable properties that kept its shape for the longest dunking times.

All the learners fully engaged and displayed the agency needed to be a System Scientist.
